The veil grows thinnest here
I don't know if this will work at this time of year or not. But.

Buy a few small potatoes. Let them sit somewhere, preferably somewhere dark, until they begin to sprout eyes. Drop them off in unexpected places where they may take root...the medians between roads, the entrance to a local park, a courtyard in a business plaza.

This would probably also work with carrots or even pumpkin seeds. Pumpkins seem to sprout fairly easily once you've dropped the seeds.
